Featured Studio: Healing Space Anacortes

Having recently opened in October 2023, I was curious about the story behind Healing Space — in an area that has very few yoga spaces: Anacortes, WA. Nicole isn’t new to the yoga community, she previously ran a hot yoga studio prior to the COVID pandemic and related lockdowns. This is a place built from resilience, and inspires others to refill their cup: Nicole’s new business goes beyond yoga classes to offer a curated collection of healing modalities focused on helping individuals heal from trauma.

I highly recommend you check out this studio, Nicole is a gift to the community in Skagit county and is pouring her heart into its care. This studio hosts small and intimate yoga classes that are best booked by reservation — Nicole’s classes often sell-out as word gets out about this cozy, safe space. There are several options for one-on-one yoga and healing sessions; you can learn more about at: healingspaceanacortes.com

See below for a few questions answered by founder Nicole to learn more about this studio.

Owner:  Nicole Anzaldua

Location: Anacortes, WA

Parking/closest public transportation?

Skagit Transit / Washington State Ferries for public transportaton. Anacortes is a car-friendly town with many street-side parking options a short walk from the studio.

What was the inspiration behind the studio?

Prior to COVID and the world shutting down, I owned a larger hot yoga studio that I unfortunately could not keep the doors open. While the rest of the world was healing, a previous student from my community took her own life. I made  a promise to her that if I ever opened up another space again, it would be a community space for trauma healing that offered a variety of healing modalities. While I didn’t intend to teach yoga again in this space, it turned out that my community was looking for a safe space to practice hot yoga again. In October 2023, healing space anacortes was born!

Do you have a mission at your studio?

Simply put: to help people feel safe in their bodies again

What style of yoga classes are taught at your studio?

We are proudly a trauma informed and trauma trained yoga studio. I offer two different types: hot flow and a hot deep stretch class. I’m Vinyasa based but I have training/experience in teaching various styles like yin and restorative and incorporate my intuition to guide a class that resonates with people, but also provides a healing experience.

Do you offer meditation classes?

We offer 1:1 meditation classes for a private and customized experience

Do you have a teacher training program at your studio? If so, tell us a little bit about the training.

Back in the day, I ran and taught my own 200 hour Intuitive Vinyasa Teacher Training that was accredited through Yoga Alliance. After taking a pause from yoga during the COVID years, I also paused on teaching future yoga teachers.

I have pivoted to offer spiritual and energy healing trainings such as Intuitive Energy Medicine and psychic development. As a trained and spiritual practitioner and 4th generation intuitive, I work with sensitives and psychics to understand their gifts for personal development or for a professional practice.

Do you offer special events or workshops?

We’re like a one stop shop for holistic healing. From somatic therapy, osteopathy, to astrology and tarot, we offer a variety of healing/yoga workshops and events.

What kind of students would resonate with your studio?

The self-proclaimed mystics, woo-woo’s and empaths will immediately feel at home with the vibe of the space.
